Non-Profit Day: The Team’s Impact Beyond the Office

Amid the often hectic and consuming workweek, today offers a valuable moment to pause, reflect, and acknowledge the charitable efforts our team dedicates to non-profit organisations. Whilst the company maintains strong partnerships with various non-profits, this commitment extends well beyond the workplace, as our team members continue to support charitable causes in their personal lives. From youth development leaders to food bank supporters, let us take this opportunity to explore and celebrate the dedication of the Factotum team to non-profits, highlighting their unwavering contributions and community spirit.

Lee

Lee actively supports his local non-profit organisation, Gratitude, through his continuous donations of food and clothes to its hub. Noticing the long queues that formed outside this food bank on his morning commute, Lee was compelled to help. He now takes it upon himself to ensure that the organisation is regularly supplied with his donations, thereby not only sustaining a vital community resource but also aiding the well-being of his local community.

Varun

Every Friday, Varun, along with his team, leads a local branch for HSS UK (Hindu Swayamsevak Sangh). In his role as a youth development leader, he is dedicated to nurturing the physical, intellectual, and spiritual development of the youth in his local community. Varun strives to motivate the youth to organise and serve society in a positive manner.

Beverley

When asked about her work for non-profit organisations, Beverly emphasised, “Opportunities within not-for-profit should never be restricted. After all, its operating model is still structured like a business”. Beverley dedicated her expertise to Marketing and Communications for Kisharon, a charity supporting individuals with learning disabilities. She was instrumental in establishing their social enterprise, Equal—a home and giftware store located in the heart of their community in North West London. The store not only offers a selection of beautiful gifts but also provides employment opportunities for individuals with learning disabilities. By creating their own range of handmade products, Beverley’s work ensured that those supported by Kisharon could
actively participate in and contribute to the enterprise, creating independence and inclusion.

Debz

Debz has played a pivotal role in managing and enhancing a diverse range of data systems for numerous non-profit organisations. Reflecting upon her contributions, she shared that data is the beating heart of a charity; nurture it, and it becomes the foundation upon which growth is built. Utilising her background in data analysis, Debz laid the groundwork for sustainable, future-proof systems, migrating, defining, and cleansing data to ensure its integrity. Through her dedication and expertise, Debz has not only fortified these organisations but has also empowered them to expand their reach and deepen their impact on the communities they serve.

Bobby

Bobby has collaborated with ProjectREMAKE, an organisation dedicated to supporting and empowering formerly incarcerated individuals in their entrepreneurial pursuits. In this role, he ensures that ex-offenders are equipped with essential business skills and provided with guidance on their paths to self-employment, fostering their successful reintegration into society.

Gayatri

Volunteering for Suicide&Co has not only allowed Gayatri to develop new skills but also to gain a profound sense of purpose, truly embodying their tagline, “We’re here to keep you company.” By assisting in raising support and awareness for their vital services— including the helpline, counselling, and the Sidekick app—volunteers play a crucial role in Suicide&Co’s significant impact on the community.

These services are essential for those bereaved by suicide, helping to alleviate the isolation felt during their suicide loss journey and reminding them that they are not alone. By supporting not-for-profits like Suicide&Co, Gayatri believes volunteers contribute to shaping our society and fostering hope for a brighter future, ensuring everyone feels they have company.

Me, Maya

I regularly lend my time to Food Bank Aid, a charity that supplies provisions to 32 local food banks. My responsibilities include selecting and packing food items for distribution and welcoming and orienting new volunteers to the organisation’s processes. Additionally, I have utilised her marketing insights to advise the Food Bank team, offering them assistance with upcoming campaigns and social media initiatives.
