Position Overview

The Data Engineer will be responsible for designing, building, and maintaining scalable data pipelines and infrastructure, enabling efficient processing and analysis of large, complex datasets. You will work on innovative projects, collaborating with a creative, highly supportive team to provide value and insights to customers using Google Cloud Platform (GCP) services, with opportunities to enhance your skills in cloud technologies.

Core Responsibilities

  • Data Pipeline Development: Design, build, and maintain automated data pipelines to support data ingestion, ETL processes, and storage, ensuring seamless data flow for analysis.
  • Data Storage & Management: Implement and maintain databases and data storage solutions, ensuring data quality, accuracy, and completeness.
  • Data Governance: Develop and enforce data governance policies to ensure the integrity of data across systems and support analytical processes.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with data scientists and analysts to optimise data models for reporting and analytics purposes.
  • Infrastructure Maintenance: Monitor and maintain data infrastructure, ensuring system availability and optimal performance.

Capabilities Required

  • Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
  • Strong proficiency in SQL, with experience in relational databases (e.g., MySQL, PostgreSQL, Oracle).
  • Familiarity with big data technologies (e.g., Hadoop, Spark, Hive) and data warehousing tools (e.g., Google BigQuery, Apache Airflow).
  • Proficiency in at least one programming language (Python ideally, but also Java or Scala).
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to work both independently and within a team.
